UK finds Iloilo positive for investments

British officials who were recently in Iloilo said they found many positive indicators for investments in Iloilo.

British Ambassador Asif Ahmad said that Iloilo is a rapidly emerging area and they are looking to explore more business opportunities even across the Visayas. Ahmad was in Iloilo for the British Festival Event which showcased British excellence in innovation, film, education and art. He was accompanied by Trade Envoy Richard Graham, Department of International Director Michael Moon and Philippine Senator Franklin Drilon.

“The most obvious opportunity for British interventions in Iloilo is retail,” Ahmad said in a press conference.

“You can simply grow something and send it to us fresh,” Ahmad further said, adding that Ilonggos can either put value-added or produce high-end crops from their area.

He added that the free-spending young professionals in the Business Process Outsourcing Industry, who have style are likely to desire to buy British products. With the Brexit to take effect in 2019, Ilonggos can start exporting fresh agricultural products to the UK.
