Energy giant Ørsted is proposing to re-develop the existing Barrow Offshore Windfarm building to benefit staff members
An offshore windfarm company could see major improvements to its land base after a proposal to re-develop the building was submitted.
Ørsted is proposing to re-develop the existing Barrow Offshore Windfarm building in Ramsey Way to provide a number of improvements to benefit staff members.
The energy giant has put forward a number of changes to the site including: a new mezzanine floor to form a technical training facility, maximising office space, improving the canteen facilities, two new car parks comprising of 94 spaces alongside electrical vehicle charging points.
According to the design and access statement, Ørsted’s continued investment and development in the company acts as a catalyst for further growth to benefit local communities.
It states: Ørsted’s investment in offshore wind projects off the coast of Barrow have had far-reaching benefits locally.
The wind farms have helped to deliver a significant boost to the local economy, sustaining a local supply chain and creating jobs for local people such as their apprenticeship scheme for offshore wind technicians, it states.
The continued investment and development of the company acts as a catalyst for further growth that continues to benefit the local communities, it states.
The proposal includes the insertion of a new mezzanine floor to form a technical training facility along with maximising the office space and improving the canteen facilities.
External works include improving the current areas of hardstanding with a grass-filled permeable grid system, new cycling shelters and new PV cells to the roof.
As well as this, plans propose replacing the existing elevator with a new eight person lift to improve accessibility between floors.
